영유 상담은 어떻게 하나?
학부모로서 영어 유치원 선생님들과 상담하는 경우가 아주 가끔 있었는데, 무슨 이야기를 해야 하는지? 소소 하지만 영어로 소통해야 하나? 고민했던 적이 있어요. 별 것 아닌 것 같은데 신경이 쓰이는 이벤트인 것 같아요. 상담을 받는 학부모로서 괜찮은 대화 주제와 질문을 정리해 보았어요.
보통 상담은 원어민 선생님과 더불어 한국말이 가능하신 선생님이 같이 들어오시는데, 필요하면 학부모 질문은 통역을 해주시는 것 같았고, 원어민 선생님이 말해주는 내용은 따로 한국말로 다시 설명해주지는 않았어요. 아래 내용들이 전형적인 질문인 것 같고, 영어로는 어떻게 물어보면 되는지도 대화처럼 구성해 보았어요.
[ 인사 ]
Parent: Hi, Ms. Johnson! How are you today? 안녕하세요, 존슨 선생님! 잘 지내시나요?
Teacher: Hello! I'm doing well, thank you. How about you? 안녕하세요! 잘 지내고 있어요, 감사합니다. 어떠세요?

Parent: That's great to hear! Can you tell me about the activities they enjoy the most? 좋은 소식이에요! 어떤 활동을 가장 좋아하나요?
Teacher: Absolutely. OOO seems to really enjoy group activities like storytelling and art projects. 물론이에요. OOO는 이야기 듣기와 아트 프로젝트와 같은 그룹 활동을 정말 즐기는 것 같아요.
[ 강점/단점 ]
Parent: Are there any specific areas where you've noticed their strengths or interests? 아이의 강점이나 흥미로운 분야가 있다면 알려주실 수 있을까요?
Teacher: Yes, OOO shows a natural curiosity for language and numbers. They are quick learners. 네,OOO는 언어와 숫자에 대한 자연스러운 호기심을 보이고 있어요. 빠른 학습자입니다.
Parent: That's fantastic news! How about any challenges or areas that may need some extra attention? 좋은 소식이에요! 어려움이나 더 많은 관심이 필요한 부분이 있다면 어떤 게 있을까요?
Teacher: 10. Overall, your child is doing well, but I've noticed they may benefit from a bit more practice in fine motor skills. 전반적으로 귀하의 아이는 잘 하고 있어요, 그러나 손기술에 조금 더 연습할 필요가 있어 보입니다.
Parent: Thank you for letting me know. How can we work together to support that development? 알려주셔서 감사해요. 그 발전을 지원하기 위해 어떻게 도울 수 있을까요?
Teacher: 12. We can suggest some fun activities at home and provide resources for fine motor skill development. 우리는 집에서 즐길 수 있는 재미있는 활동을 제안하고 손기술 발달을 위한 자료를 제공할 수 있어요.
[ 교우 관계 ]
Parent: How is his/her social interaction with other kids? 다른 아이들과의 사회적 상호작용은 어떤가요?
Teacher: 14. OOO is very sociable and gets along well with classmates. They enjoy group play and sharing. OOO 는 매우 사교적이고 동급생들과 잘 어울리는 편이에요. 그들은 그룹 놀이와 서로 물건 나누기를 즐겨해요.
Parent: That's great to hear. Is there anything specific I can do at home to encourage positive social interactions? 다행이에요. 집에서 어떤 구체적인 일을 할 수 있을까요? 긍정적인 사회적 상호작용을 촉진하기 위해?
Teacher: Encourage playdates and continue fostering a positive attitude toward sharing and cooperation. 친구들과의 놀이 일정을 잡고, 나눔과 협력에 대한 긍정적인 태도를 계속 유도하세요.

Parent: Got it. How about their progress in early literacy and numeracy? 알겠어요. 문해와 숫자에 대한 진전은 어떤가요?
Teacher: OOO is making good progress. He/She enjoys storytime and is starting to grasp basic counting concepts. OOO는 잘하고 있어요. 이야기 시간을 즐기고 기본적인 숫자 개념을 이해하기 시작했어요.
Parent: 19. Excellent! Any suggestions on how we can enhance their literacy and numeracy skills at home? 훌륭해요! 집에서 어떻게 하면 문해 및 숫자를 잘하게 할 수 있을까요?
Teacher: 20. Reading together regularly and incorporating numbers into everyday activities can be very beneficial. 정기적으로 함께 책읽기를 하고 일상적인 활동에 숫자 연계 시키는 것이 매우 도움이 될 수 있어요.
